The Somali Council of Union of Presidential Candidates met with members of the civil society organizations led by civil society chairman Tahliil Shatax.
The meeting discussed the challenges ahead of the 2020-2021 elections and how to find solutions.
Chairman of the Union of Candidates Sharif Sheikh Ahmed said civil society leaders have called on the Union of Candidates to mediate in the face of electoral challenges.
Sheikh Sharif said the Union of Candidates welcomes the mediating role of civil society organizations.
Chairman of civil society organizations Tahliil Shatax for his part said the meeting was the beginning of mediation on the challenges and controversial issues of the electoral commission, noting that they will meet with top officials of the federal government to find a solution and agreement ahead of the polls in 2020 – 2021
