The intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) summit is expected to kick off today in Djibouti with which this year’s discussion centering on two important issues affecting the Horn of Africa nations.
Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and his delegation left for the IGAD summit yesterday in Djibouti. The summit will first talk about the overall situation in the countries of IGAD with a particular focus on the conflict in Somalia and Kenya, the situation in the region of Tigreey and the impact of countries IGAD on Covid-19 disease.
Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo on his part will deliver a keynote address at the conference addressing the situation in Somalia, the ongoing conflict between the Federal Government of Somalia and Kenya and the development of the Coronavirus in Somalia.
Somalia last week sent a letter of protest against Kenya to Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamduk, the current chair of IGAD prompting an emergency meeting on the issue and other IGAD issues.
The President of Somalia and his accompanying delegation will hold talks with the Heads of State of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Member States in order to strengthen the country’s role in joint regional initiatives based on cooperation, economic cooperation, security and political issues.
