The British Ambassador to Somalia Ben Fender who was among the Chairpersons at the Somalia-International Cooperation Forum said that in order for Somalia to move forward, there is a need for a social agreement to be reached.

He appeared to be addressing the recurring conflicts in Somalia, some of which are related to the country’s disputed elections.

“People have to accept that they give up some of their self-interest to accept the laws, the constitution in the interest of all others”, Said Ben Fender.

The statement from British ambassador to Somalia comes amid controversy over the Somali government’s appointment of election commissions which have been opposed by presidential candidates who said they have been selected from the Somali National Security Agency and Government Employees.
