A number of fishermen in Kismayo have been provided with fishing equipment that has boosted their business.
About 18 fishermen in Kismayo fish market were provided with fishinf equipment including freezers, scales and other equipment necessary to boost the fishing business.
Fadumo Maganow, one of the fish traders who received the equipment told Radio Kismayo that her business has grown and the fishing industry is better off turning around her fortunes and life and that of her family.
Fatima and 18 other people who were supported with the fishing equipment were also given training on how to trade and increase their daily income which is reflected in the fishing business they run today.
Nur Abdullahi Ali, another fisherman in the fish market said that they faced a number of challenges such as being frustrated with the remaining fish when they did not have the equipment to store fish but now things are much different.
The Director General of the Jubbaland Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources Mohamed Khalif Ali said the equipment provided to the fishermen was supported by GIZ to increase their commercial productivity.
