The Ministry of Health of the Jubaland Government, in partnership with UNICEF, has launched a two-day consultative forum in Kismayo aimed at enhancing immunization service delivery and strengthening community participation in vaccination programmes.

The meeting brought together the Director General of the Ministry of Health, Mohamed Hussein, departmental directors, section heads, regional and district health officials, religious leaders, development partners, and community representatives. The gathering reflects a collective commitment to improving access to life-saving vaccines and safeguarding the health of children across Jubaland.

The forum seeks to strengthen coordination and collaboration among stakeholders involved in immunization efforts, promote community awareness, and identify practical strategies to reach children who have not yet received vaccines or have not completed their immunization schedules.
Over the two-day discussions, participants will exchange experiences, examine challenges affecting vaccine uptake and service delivery, and explore community-driven solutions that respond to local needs. The forum also aims to reinforce the role of communities in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of health services.

Speaking at the event, officials emphasized that increasing immunization coverage requires strong partnerships between government institutions, development partners, religious leaders, and local communities to ensure that no child is left behind.

The Ministry of Health reaffirmed its commitment to protecting children’s health and advancing immunization services throughout Jubaland through close collaboration with partners and communities.
