The Jubbaland Military Court and Serious Crimes Court on Monday held the second hearing in the high-profile case against Abdifatah Mohamed Ali, who stands accused of the abduction and murder of Asha Bakaari Barkaale.
During the hearing, the court examined evidence and heard testimony from witnesses. Both the prosecution and the defense counsel questioned witnesses as part of the ongoing proceedings.
The father of the deceased appeared before the court and appealed for justice, urging the court to impose qisaas (capital punishment under Islamic law) if the accused is found guilty.
At the conclusion of the session, Colonel Abdullahi Mohamud Ibrahim, Chairman of the First Instance Military Court of Jubbaland, formally closed the second hearing and announced that the court will deliver its verdict on the case later this week.
