The Minister of Health of the Jubaland State Government, Ismail Ahmed Garas, welcomed a high-level delegation from CORE Group at the Ministry’s headquarters. The delegation was led by the Country Director of CORE Group for Somalia and Kenya.
The meeting was attended by several departmental directors from the Ministry of Health, senior officials from CORE Group, and representatives of partner organizations.
Discussions focused on the successful completion of the FARID Project, highlighting its key achievements and the positive impact delivered throughout its implementation period.
Both sides also reviewed the strong partnership that has existed between the Jubaland Ministry of Health and CORE Group, emphasizing the importance of continued collaboration in strengthening health services across the region.
A major part of the deliberations centered on enhancing healthcare cooperation in border areas, with particular attention given to preventing the spread of infectious diseases and reinforcing ongoing efforts to eradicate polio. Participants underscored the need for coordinated interventions and sustained support to improve health outcomes for vulnerable communities living in border regions.
Minister Ismail Ahmed Garas expressed his appreciation to CORE Group for its continued commitment and support to the Ministry and the people of Jubaland, especially those residing in remote and hard-to-reach areas where access to healthcare services remains a significant challenge.
He further reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to deepening its partnership with CORE Group to expand and strengthen healthcare services, improve access to essential medical care, and enhance cross-border health cooperation aimed at safeguarding communities from disease outbreaks.
The meeting concluded with both parties reiterating their shared determination to build on existing achievements and work together toward a healthier and more resilient Jubaland.
