The Minister of Environment and Climate Change of the Jubaland Government, Aydid Suleiman Hashi, accompanied by the Ministry’s Director General, Aden Mohamed Hudle, held a high-level meeting in Kismayo with a delegation from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) led by the UNDP Resident Representative in Somalia.
The meeting focused on strengthening the longstanding partnership and cooperation between the Jubaland Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and UNDP, particularly in the areas of environmental conservation, climate change adaptation, and the development of projects aimed at addressing pressing environmental challenges across Jubaland.
During the discussions, both sides highlighted their successful collaboration in implementing a range of initiatives designed to protect the environment and mitigate the impacts of climate change.
These joint efforts have played an important role in enhancing community resilience and promoting sustainable solutions to environmental challenges facing the region.
The engagement also provided an important opportunity for the two parties to review the progress of their partnership and explore ways to advance key projects and priority programmes that support Jubaland’s environmental and climate resilience agenda.
Speaking at the meeting, Minister Aydid Suleman Hashi expressed his appreciation for UNDP’s continued support and close cooperation with the Jubaland Government and the Ministry. He underscored the importance of further strengthening collaboration with international development partners to implement impactful programmes that protect the environment and enhance the resilience of communities across Jubaland.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of both the Jubaland Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and UNDP to advancing sustainable environmental management, climate adaptation, and long-term development initiatives that contribute to a greener and more resilient Jubaland.
