The Ministry of Women, Family Affairs and Human Rights of the Jubaland State of Somalia has convened stakeholder forums in the towns of Dhobley and Garbaharey, bringing together key actors in the campaign against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).
The meetings gathered representatives from partner government ministries, civil society organizations, religious leaders, traditional elders, women’s groups, and youth organizations to discuss coordinated strategies for eliminating the harmful practice.
Participants reaffirmed their commitment to protecting the rights, health, and dignity of women and girls, emphasizing the need for collective action, community awareness, and stronger partnerships to end FGM.
The forums provided a platform for dialogue, experience-sharing, and the development of practical approaches aimed at accelerating efforts to eradicate the practice across Jubaland.
The Ministry underscored that ending FGM requires the active involvement of all sectors of society and called on communities to work together to safeguard future generations from its harmful effects.
