The Duufaan Unit of the Jubbaland Darawiish Forces has launched an intensified security operation targeting Al-Shabaab militants in the dense forested areas of the Middle Juba region, military officials have confirmed.
Speaking about the ongoing operation, the Commander of the Duufaan Unit, Colonel Habane Hassan, said the forces are carrying out a major clearance campaign aimed at rooting out militants who have been using remote bushland areas as hideouts.
Colonel Habane stated that the operation is focused on locations where the group is believed to be sheltering and coordinating activities, with the objective of preventing threats to civilians and nearby communities.
He emphasized that the troops are conducting the operation with determination and are committed to pursuing militants in areas under their influence.
“The forces are executing a comprehensive security plan designed to clear and secure these forested areas from extremist elements,” Colonel Habane said. “Our priority is to protect the population and ensure lasting stability in the region.”
The commander further noted that Jubbaland forces remain fully prepared to continue their operations until the militants are expelled from the targeted areas, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening security and safeguarding local communities.
The ongoing operation is part of broader efforts by Jubbaland security forces to dismantle militant networks and enhance stability across the region.
