Jubaland security forces in Afmadow district, Lower Jubba region, successfully captured a suspected terrorist operative on Saturday night following a failed attack on a security checkpoint, officials said.
According to security sources, the suspect, accompanied by several armed militants, launched an attack on a checkpoint in the district with the apparent intention of destabilizing the area and harming civilians. Security forces responded swiftly, engaging the attackers and wounding the suspect before arresting him and seizing his weapon.
The remaining militants fled the scene and are currently being pursued by security forces as operations continue to locate and apprehend them.
