The Director General of the Jubaland Ministry of Health, Mohamed Hussein Mohamed, today welcomed a high-level delegation from the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the Africa Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET) at his office in Kismayo.
The visiting delegation arrived in the city to conduct an evaluation of previously delivered health workforce trainings, particularly the Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP). These trainings have played a critical role in enhancing the knowledge, skills, and overall capacity of health professionals, contributing to improved quality of healthcare service delivery across the region.
During the meeting, both sides discussed the outcomes of the training programs and explored ways to further strengthen the competencies of frontline health workers.
The FETP initiative has been instrumental in building local expertise in disease surveillance, outbreak response, and public health management—key elements in ensuring resilient health systems.
Officials emphasized that the visit reflects ongoing efforts to foster strong collaboration between the Jubaland Ministry of Health and international health partners.
