
The Chairperson of the Drought Response Committee and Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management of Jubaland, Abdirahman Mohamed Dhiriq, together with committee members, held their second meeting today to address the worsening drought situation across the region.
During the session, the committee reviewed the extent of the drought affecting Jubaland’s communities and announced a three-day voluntary fast, culminating in a special prayer for rain on Thursday, seeking divine mercy to alleviate the severe conditions.
The meeting also highlighted the critical role of religious leaders, business stakeholders, and ongoing relief initiatives aimed at supporting drought-affected populations. Minister Dhiriq emphasized the urgency of the situation, calling for swift and coordinated action to mitigate the impact of the widespread drought.
