The Minister of Security for the Jubaland State Government, General Yusuf Hussein Dhuumaal, accompanied by Acting Commander of the Lower Jubba Regional Police Division, Captain Omar Hujaale Abdi, and other senior officers, officially took over a newly constructed facility designed to provide essential services to residents of Luglow, north of Kismayo.

The Luglow area is home to families displaced within Jubbaland and returnees who have come back to Somalia after years as refugees.

The new facility, located within the Northern Police Station compound, is expected to accelerate efforts to address cases of child abuse and strengthen community protection services.

This initiative is implemented by the Somali Women’s Studies Centre (SWSC) with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), aiming to enhance the quality and reach of social services provided by the police.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Acting Commander Captain Omar Hujaale Abdi expressed gratitude to all stakeholders involved in establishing the center and urged local communities to safeguard and maintain the new facility for the benefit of all.
