A large-scale security operation entered its second day across several areas in the Lower Jubba region, including Biibi, Harboole, Miido, and villages surrounding Dhasheeg Waamo.
The operation is being conducted jointly by various units of the Jubbaland security forces, the elite Danab commandos, and specialized teams from the 43rd Division’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit. During the sweep, the forces successfully dismantled multiple terrorist hideouts and neutralized over 15 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted by extremist groups to target civilians.
Military officials confirmed that the operation dealt a significant blow to the militants, with five members of the terror group captured alive. The remaining fighters fled toward the remote Qumbi forest area, where pursuit operations are ongoing.
Security commanders praised the coordination among the units and reaffirmed their commitment to restoring peace and stability in the region.
