The Ministry of Women, Family Affairs and Human Rights of Jubbaland State has successfully organized a pivotal workshop and consultation session focused on the draft Child Rights Bill. The event aimed to gather diverse insights and recommendations to strengthen the proposed legislation and ensure it reflects the needs and rights of children across the region.
The workshop was officially opened by the Director General of the Ministry, Miski Yussuf, who emphasized the importance of inclusive dialogue in shaping a comprehensive and future-proof legal framework for child protection.
Participants included representatives from government institutions, civil society organizations, religious scholars, and parents. Throughout the session, attendees engaged in in-depth discussions on the contents of the draft bill, exchanging views on how best to safeguard the fundamental rights of children in Jubbaland regional state of Somalia.
Key areas of focus included access to education, healthcare, child safety, and the prevention of abuse and exploitation. The Ministry underscored the urgency of enacting a robust and inclusive law that aligns with the realities faced by Somali children and secures their future.
The Ministry expressed its gratitude to all participants for their valuable contributions, noting that the ideas and recommendations shared during the workshop will play a crucial role in refining the draft bill.
Once finalized, the legislation is expected to mark a significant milestone in the protection and empowerment of children in Jubbaland state.
