Jubaland Minister for Environment and Climate Change Holds Critical Meeting in Dhobley on Climate Change Impacts

The Minister for Environment and Climate Change of Jubbaland state, Aydid Sulaymaan Hashi has convened a crucial meeting in Dhobley district with representatives from civil society organizations, local operational agencies and the district administration led by district commissioner, Hassan Abdi Hashi.

The meeting focused on the adverse effects of climate change, particularly deforestation, wildlife destruction and environmental degradation.

In his opening remarks, the Minister emphasized that climate change directly impacts the lives of Jubbaland residents. He stressed the urgent need for collective action to address these issues, specifically warning against the dangers of deforestation and wildlife destruction which he identified as major contributors to desertification, droughts and declining quality of life in the region.

On his part, the Dhobley district commissioner, Hassan Abdi Hashi applauded the Ministry’s efforts to protect the environment. He expressed the district administration’s readiness to closely collaborate with the Ministry to resolve existing environmental challenges and implement effective plans in the Jubbaland regional state.
