Federal lawmakers and ministers have called for an immediate ceasefire after inter-clan fighting between militias from the south of Mudug in Galmudug and Galdogob district in Puntland.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, and the Minister of Transport and Aviation, Fardowso Osman Igal, representing the two communities, were among the officials who attended a meeting in Mogadishu to resolve the conflict in the Mudug region.

A statement released following the meeting emphasized the need for an immediate ceasefire and announced that another peace gathering had been scheduled for next week. The Sa’ad community in Mogadishu will host the upcoming meeting.

The ongoing conflict between the two communities is primarily rooted in a land dispute, with the latest clashes resulting in several fatalities.
