The Jubbaland security forces and the special operation forces of the African Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) drawn from the Kenya Defence Forces, have jointly carried out a planned operation in Afmadow district in the Lower Jubba region of Somalia.
The joint security operation targeted villages under the Afmadow district and areas bordering the district.
The security personnel have also conducted a thorough patrol along the major checkpoints, intersections and the main roads that leads to Afmadow town.
The forces have also combed through deeper forests cover where the Al-Qaeda-Affiliated Al-Shabaab terror militants are believed to be hiding.
The operation is expected to strengthen the general security of villages under Afmadow district and other areas recently liberated by the Jubbaland forces that are not under the control of the government.
