Somali Prime Minister, Hamza Abdi Barre, forbade his new cabinet members from removing or transferring officials from their positions outside the framework laid out in the constitution and the nation’s labour law.

Hamza said that it is vital to safeguard government employee rights to ensure a confident and competent staff. He gave his cabinet the order to consult his office before taking any action regarding suspending, transferring, or firing staff.

The Prime Minister’s decision comes while the country is at the center of the ministerial transition period.

Many civil servants who worked in the previous government have said they are afraid they could lose their jobs due to the political changes in the country.
