Somali Prime Minister appoints new directors and advisors

Prime Minister Hamze has appointed Mohamed Abukar Zubeyr as his Permanent Secretary.

Hamze appointed Farhan Mohamed Jimale, a well-known Somali journalist and former editor for BBC Somali Service as cabinet spokesman and director of information in the Prime Minister’s office.

Similarly, Kamal Gutale was appointed security adviser to the Prime Minister. Ali Abdi Aware, who has previously held political positions in Puntland, was named as reconciliation adviser to the Prime Minister’s office. Dr. Hodan Osman was appointed as the foreign relations advisor, and Dr. Ahmednor Mohamed Abdi was chosen as the political advisor. Abdullahi Sharif Abdi was appointed director of protocol, and Hashim Mohamed Ali was appointed director of financial management.

In the days ahead, the Prime Minister is anticipated to form an inclusive government; however, it is the first set of appointments made by the Prime Minister since the parliament gave him a vote of confidence the last month.
