
A statement from the ATMIS Ex-AMISOM operation said that a curfew has been imposed on the entire Halane camp, which is home to foreign agencies, between the 25th and 28th of this month.
ATMIS said that the move was in consultation with the Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble, who is leading the country’s electoral process.
The ATMIS said it will be conducting security exercise inside the Halane Base camp from 25th -28th April 2022 and to carry out the security exercises safely and without interference, the base camp will be place under total lockdown from 25th April today.
The total base camp lock down will entail stoppage of all construction works, shops and trading businesses by both international and national personel this includes Marine market, Movcon, car wash area, sector 1 main kitchen shops as well as implementation of additional security measures in the form of activation of internal checkpoints within the base camp, the closure of Madina gate, providing access to the beach by camp residents only within stimulated timelines, limiting movement in the vicinity of airport hangar and sweeping of construction sites by ATMIS and UN sniffer dogs.
Also Critical services personnel and Government operations will be cleared and facilitated accordingly.
The Airport operations and travelers will continue to be facilitated through airport gate.
The ATMIS said that this lockdown is set to be extended to the 29th of April 2022.
