Jubbaland state President offers condolences on the death of MP Amina Mohamed in Beledweyne

The President of the Jubbaland State of Somalia, Ahmed Mohamed Islam has expressed his condolences over the death of legislature Amina Mohamed Abdi in Beledweyne.

“I send my condolences to the family and friends of Amina Mohamed Abdi, a Member of Parliament who was killed in Beledweyne.

The growing insecurity in the country, including the attack on Aden Adde International Airport shows the danger that the country faces and needs to work together to save the nation such heinous attacks,” Said Jubbaland president Ahmed Mohamed Islam.

Amino Mohamed Abdi was a Member of Parliament who strongly advocated for justice in the case of NISA agent Ikraan Tahliil Farah whose disappearance case grabbed world attention.

Amina Mohamed, who was in Beledweyne to defend her seat in upcoming elections, was among those killed by a suicide bomber, along with other politicians and security forces. The blast took place near the HirShabelle Presidential Palace in Beledweyne.

The terrorist group, Al- Shabaab has claimed responsibility for the attack. The Al-Qaeda-linked affiliate terror network which controls vast swathes of land in the south and central regions, frequently attacks security forces and civilians.
