Somali Deputy Minister for Defense, Abdifatah Qasim, accompanied by the Director General of the Ministry of Defense, Hassan Mohamed Sacid Samatar, met with officials from the European Union Mission in Somalia.
The two sides discussed the strengthening of cooperation between the Federal Government of Somalia and the European Union Mission in Somalia and the strengthening of military cooperation, the intensification of the fight against the Al-Shabaab terror network.
The Somali Deputy Minister for Defense thanked EU officials for their continued support to the Government of Somalia and called on the EU to step up their efforts against terror crackdown.
The European Union (EU) is supporting Somalia in training and equipping its armed forces and paying part of its salaries.
