The Jubbaland Ministry of Interior and Federalism has today held a training workshop in Kismayo on tax payment and its benefits to the community.
The training workshop was attended by Jubbaland traditional elders, officials from the Lower Jubba region and Kismayo district as well.
Officials who spoke at the workshop together underscored the importance of paying taxes and it’s benefits to the community.
The Director General of the Ministry of Interior, Reconciliation and Federalism, Adan Farah Garane said taxation is key in funding many types of government programs which is inturn beneficial to the local community.
“When it comes to taxes, there are many avenues that can be taken to include taxes, such as vegetables, dairy, and home, as well as shops. Taxes help us as government to fund programs that help the community and the people,” Said DG Adan Farah Garane.
Speaking at the forum, the Minister of State for Interior said that taxes need to be paid by the community to help serve them.
He further said that everything the government does requires resources and money and taxation is one of them.
“The system from the central government to the local government level needs to be streamlined.Taxes are one of the most important sources of revenue for the government,” He said.
The Jubbaland Ministry of Interior, Reconciliation and Federalism has recently launched a campaign to raise awareness among the Jubbaland community on the importance of paying taxes, which was said to be important for governance and effective service delivery.
