Leaders of the National Consultative Council yesterday met with representatives of the International Community and the Union of Candidates, discussing the acceleration of the electoral process and listening to their suggestions on the transparency of the elections.
The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia Mohamed Hussein Roble, the Heads of the 5 Regional Governments and the Governor of Benadir Region also listened to recommendations from the civil society and the Union of Candidates.
The National Consultative Assembly will today proceed with various debates on the agenda of its meeting, which will focus on national security issues and the timing of the upcoming parliamentary elections.
The consultative meeting in Mogadishu is being closely watched by the Somali community and the international community, as the outcome of the conference awaits at a time of political crisis in the country.
