Galmudug state President orders Ahlu Sunna Wal Jama’a to handover weapons to Galmudug forces

The president of Galmudug Federal member state of Somalia, Ahmed Abdi Kariye Qoorqoor has ordered Ahlu Sunna moderate Islamist group to hand over their weapons to Galmudug state forces and surrender.
President Ahmed Kariye Qoorqoor, who is currently holding talks in the town of Guri ceel, told traditional elders in Guri ceel that Ahlu Sunna must hand over their weapons in order to avoid renewed fighting in the Galgadud regional state of Somalia.

Guriceel district in Galmudug state has recently been under siege with fighting between government forces and Ahlu Sunna Wal Jama’a  moderate islamist group.

The fighting ended following mediation efforts by influential business people which made the Ahlu sunna group to withdraw from Guri ceel and ending days of intense fighting which inflicted heavy casualties on both sides.
