Jubbaland Humanitarian and Disaster Management Ministry holds training for Committee members of the ministry’s Disaster Preparedness and Response Committee

The Jubbaland Ministry of Relief, Humanitarian affairs and Disaster Management has today opened a training on stakeholders consultations on gender responsive strategy for community risk assessment (CRA) and guidelines for local disaster risk reduction plan for some 20 members of the ministry’s Disaster Preparedness and Response Committee.

The stakeholders training consultations will last for two days and will focus on assessing the impact of natural disasters on the community which will help the committee understand the implications and the impact of natural disasters on the community and the environment.

The Somali nation is currently plagued by several types of disasters, such as droughts and floods.

The advisor to the Ministry of rellief, Humanitarian affairs and Disaster Management of the Jubbaland State, Abdullahi Shafi’i Abdullahi, who officiated the training said the stakeholders consultations on gender responsive strategy for community risk assessment (CRA) and guidelines for local disaster risk reduction plan plays a critical role in the averting of natural calamities.

“We are currently working on this mitigation program, both for natural and non-natural disasters. Our overall training today is to get the views of the people involved in this relief effort,” said Abdullahi Shafi’i Abdullahi.
