Civil society organizations say the Somali election proocess started on a corrupt note

Chairman of the Somali Civil Society Organizations Osman Muhudin Shaath said they were disappointed with the start of the country’s elections, which he said would be a problem for the next government.

The Somali civil society chief added that the conduct of the Upper House elections was the beginning of widespread corruption in the Somali government.

He added that they are hopeful that regional leaders in charge of the elections will feel the corruption in the election process and that they will work with them for the next four years.

Finally Shaatax governor has asked the Government to state looga needs to maintain the electoral process in order to obtain representation in areas under their control.

The statement from Somali Civil Society Chairman Osman Muhudin Shaath comes at a time when the Union of Candidates has expressed concern over the conduct of the Upper House elections.
