The United States has imposed tough sanctions on Ethiopia over the ongoing conflict in the Tigray region.
The new embargo will affect US financial and security support to Ethiopia.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has announced that visa bans have also been imposed on Ethiopian and Eritrean officials accused of committing atrocities in Tigray.
Mr Blinken stressed the need for international action to be taken to address the war in Tigray region.
