The United Kingdom has called on Somali leaders to come together and reach an agreement on the disputed elections.
A brief statement posted on the UK Mogadishu Embassy’s Twitter account has stated that they would not support an extension, unfinished elections or parallel elections in Somalia.
“The United Kingdom (UK) will not support any actions that lead to partial or parallel elections, or a direct extension,” The statement said.
The UK statement comes at a time when the Somali Parliament is scheduled to convene for a much-discussed session, and no agreement has yet been reached on Somalia’s elections.
