The forces of the 16th Battalion of the Somali National Army (DANAB) have carried out operations in areas of Bay region where members of the Al-Shabaab were based.
The operation took place in Buur-Heybe, Jira-Kolow, Durdurow, Saaxweyn & Yaq-Doomar, all under the control of Buurhakaba district in Bay region.
DANAB officials leading the operation said they had destroyed Al-Shabaab bases in the areas where the operation took place.
The DANAB officials said they confiscated an assorted cache of weapons following the tactical operations and arrested several Al-Shabaab militants who are in tight custody.
The Somali National Army (SNA) has at times carried out targeted operations in areas under the control of Al-Shabaab militants in Somalia.
