Police in Puntland’s Mudug region have carried out a planned operation in Galkayo, the regional capital.
During the operation, a seven-member al-Shabaab network was captured in the city.
Puntland officials told local media that two al-Shabaab operatives were also captured alive.
The captured network has admitted to being behind various killings and bombings in Galkayo since 2018 and is still under investigation, according to Puntland Mudug Regional Police officials.
Puntland officials did not release the names or photos of those arrested in the operation but said they would be brought to justice.
