Jubaland Energy and Water Resources Minister Inspects Key Water Infrastructure Projects in Kismayo

The Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Jubaland State Government, Ahmed Hussein Baraki, accompanied by the Director General of the Jubaland Water Agency, Mohamed Nunow, and the management of Jubba Water Company, today conducted an extensive inspection tour of the company’s water service facilities in Kismayo and surrounding areas.

The visit aimed to assess the progress of ongoing water projects, evaluate service delivery, and review efforts to enhance access to clean and reliable water for local communities.

During the inspection, the delegation visited Haadweyne area, located approximately 25 kilometers from Kismayo, where they reviewed water service operations and infrastructure developments. The team also toured a site designated for the construction of new boreholes, a project intended to expand water coverage and meet the growing demand for safe water supplies.

The officials also inspected the Booster Pump Station, which plays a vital role in maintaining water distribution across the service network. They further examined ongoing works involving the installation of new backup pipelines, designed to ensure uninterrupted water supply in the event of technical failures affecting the existing pipeline system.

The tour concluded at Jubba Water Company’s main water storage facility, where the delegation received updates on water storage capacity and operational efficiency.

Speaking during the visit, the officials emphasized the importance of strengthening water infrastructure and ensuring the provision of quality services to residents across Kismayo and neighboring communities.

The inspection, which focused on the effective implementation of water projects and the quality of services delivered to the public, concluded successfully, reaffirming Jubaland’s commitment to improving water access and supporting sustainable development in the region.
