Dollow District Commissioner Hosts High-Level WFP Delegation to Strengthen Humanitarian Partnership

The Commissioner of Dollow district, Mohamed Hussein Abdi has received a high-level delegation from the World Food Programme (WFP), led by Dr. Hameed Nuru, the agency’s Head in Somalia, in a significant meeting aimed at collaboration on humanitarian and development priorities.

The discussions focused on deepening strategic cooperation between the Dollow district administration and WFP, with particular emphasis on improving humanitarian assistance, strengthening food security, and expanding support to vulnerable communities living in Dollow and its surrounding areas.

Both sides engaged in detailed talks on enhancing coordination mechanisms to better respond to ongoing needs. The meeting highlighted the importance of scaling up joint efforts to address food insecurity and deliver timely assistance to affected populations.
In addition, the delegation and district leadership explored the key challenges hindering effective aid delivery. These included logistical constraints and resource limitations. They collectively underscored the need to reinforce accountability, transparency, and close collaboration to ensure that humanitarian assistance reaches the intended beneficiaries efficiently and without delay.

Commissioner Lafeey expressed his gratitude to WFP for its continued and visible role in supporting vulnerable groups across the district. He acknowledged the agency’s vital contribution, particularly at a time when global economic pressures are affecting humanitarian funding.

Despite these challenges, the Commissioner stressed the urgent need to expand and intensify WFP’s operations in Dollow to meet the growing demands of the local population. He emphasized that strengthening partnerships and increasing aid delivery would be key to addressing the rising humanitarian needs in the region.
