The Ministry of Health of the Jubaland State has successfully concluded a three-day capacity-building training program for healthcare workers in Elwaq district, marking an important step in strengthening local efforts to combat malaria.
The training, held for staff from the district’s health facilities, focused specifically on malaria prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Approximately 20 participants—both men and women—benefited from the program, enhancing their skills and knowledge to better serve their communities.
The sessions were led by the Head of the Malaria Program at the Jubaland Ministry of Health, Abdikhadar Mohamed, who recently arrived in Elwaq on an official working visit. His hands-on facilitation ensured that participants gained practical and up-to-date insights into tackling one of the region’s most pressing public health challenges.
Throughout the three days, the training placed strong emphasis on accurate malaria testing, effective treatment protocols, and preventive strategies aimed at reducing the spread of the disease.
Malaria remains a serious health concern in the area, significantly affecting vulnerable populations and placing pressure on local health systems.
