The Kismayo district social affairs commissioner, Najiib Bare Salat, participated in a key forum focused on Early Warning and Early Response (EWER) mechanisms aimed at strengthening community safety and conflict prevention.
The event, held in Kismayo, was organized by the Somali Women’s Study Centre (SWSC) with support from Saferworld.
Also, in attendance were MP Foos Ali Abdirahman and representatives from various community groups across Kismayo district.
Throughout the session, participants reviewed early warning reports and analyzed incidents recorded between December 2024 and January 2026. Discussions centered on improving information‑sharing systems, enhancing community‑led prevention efforts, and bolstering rapid response structures to mitigate emerging risks.
Commissioner Najiib Bare Salat emphasized that the Kismayo local government has established a dedicated office to strengthen collaboration between authorities, civil society organizations, and community members. He noted that the administration is committed to promoting peace and preventing situations that could threaten public safety.
