The Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Jubaland State Government, Ahmed Hussein Baraki, accompanied by other cabinet members and Dr. Yasid Abdalla Hamud, Head of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center for Africa, conducted an inspection visit to the site of a major water supply project in Yoontooy, near Kismayo.
This ambitious project will deliver clean water drawn from the Jubba River to more than two million people, producing 15,000 cubic meters of water daily. The initiative aims to meet the growing water needs of Kismayo city and surrounding areas in Lower Jubba region.
Originally launched over 30 years ago by Somalia’s former central government, the project is now being revitalized by the Jubaland Ministry of Energy and Water Resources to ensure sustainable access to safe water for communities.
