The Ministry of Public Works and Housing of Jubbaland regionalstate , the Ministry of Interior and Federal Affairs and the Committee for Refugees and Displaced Persons of Jubbaland have begun measuring the land designated for people who have recently been displaced by the drought living in Luglow area, which is 25km north of Kismayo.
A program to find solutions for the newly displaced people living in Luglow is in process with 1000 houses being built in the first phase of the program including toilets, health centers, markets, education centers, water sources and roads.
Jubbaland regional government has assigned the newly displaced people to Luglow area so that they can settle and create a life for them.
IDPs who will be resettled there will be created job opportunities including agriculture, businesses, livestock and fishing.
The plan is in collaboration with Jubbaland state government, UNHCR and other humanitarian organizations.
