Somali police captured armed robbers, firearms, and drugs on Wednesday following a major operation in Mogadishu.

The operation was conducted in the districts of Howlwadag, Hodan, Dharkenley, Yaqshid, and Wadajir, according to Somali police spokesman Abdifatah Aden Hassan.

“Police have seized drugs detrimental to insecurity, and security agencies are committed to cracking down on gangs and other people harming civilians. We will not accept people riding motorcycles at night while carrying knives and swords, nor will we accept parents going to the police after the police have arrested their children without first preventing their children from breaking the law,” he said.

He added that anyone found possessing an illegal firearm will face legal action from the police. The police operation follows a recent rise in complaints from Mogadishu residents about more frequent killings and robberies by armed bandits.
