The President of the Jubbaland State of Somalia, Ahmed Mohamed Islam, has today received at a delegation from the International Community led by the EU Special Representative for Somalia, Tinna Intelmann in Kismayo.
The delegation also included ambassadors from Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands and various aid agencies.
The Jubbaland state President shared with the international delegation the drought situation in Jubbaland regional state.
The Jubbaland President said that the current emergency response was little in rescueing the people affected by the biting drought.
The president said the ongoing efforts require more support and that there is a critical situation that needs to be tackled together, especially the severe water shortages that are still raging on in some areas and are affecting people as well as livestock.
The President noted that they did not get the fodder they needed, which has resulted in many animals dying in recent months throughout Jubbaland state.
The President was accompanied by the First Vice President of Jubbaland state, Mohamud Sayid Aden, a host of Jubbaland cabinet ministers, particularly the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management and other top government officials.
