The Jubbaland Deputy Minister for Petroleum and Minerals, mohamed Degow hussein has today made an inspection of fuel depots and fuel retailing shops in Kismayo.
The Jubbaland Deputy Minister has warned fuel depots, petrol stations and fuel retail shop owners of selling fuel in an unauthorized areas that pose a great risk to people.
” Selling fuel in tea vending shops and small hotels could pose a great risk to large number of people and this should immediately stop to avert a catastrophe. Petrol stations should also be set up in good places to minimize fire outbreak, ” Said Mohamed Degow Hussein.
He called on the security agencies, the Police force and the Kismayo district administration to work together to see to it that fuel is being sold in a safe and designated place and far from any risk of fire outbreak.
The deputy minister’s warning comes against the backdrop of several fire outbreaks in petrol stations and fuel depots that have resulted in loss of life and property.
