Jubbaland Humanitarian Affairs Minister announces 28,000 drought stricken families post-drought resettlement plan

Following the severe drought in areas under the control of the Jubbaland regional state, the state administration has now announced that it will relocate those affected by the drought who have lost their livestock.

The Jubbaland regional government says drought-affected people will be provided with food and other basic necessities.

Jubbaland Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management Minister, Abdirahman Abdi Ahmed said the three regions of Jubbaland state have set up shelters for drought-displaced people, to aid them provide food and other basic necessities.

The minister said 28,000 families have now been given food ration cards. He said all drought victims will receive the same assistance, depending on their needs.

He said the next plan after the end of the drought would be to resettle them to their homes and be given livestock to cushion them from the livestock lost.
