The Minister for Internal Security of the Federal Government of Somalia, Abdullahi Mohamed Nur, has issued a strong statement regarding the detention of Sheikh Mukhtar Robow Ali (Abu Mansour) who is still in custody of the Somali government.
Abdullahi Mohamed Nur has instructed the acting director of NISA, Yassin Abdullahi Mohamud (Farey) to submit a full report on Robow’s detention and condition.
The minister gave the security services 48 hours to respond to his request, adding that he had received complaints from relatives of Abu Mansour.
He also said that they are demanding justice, as the Sheikh has been detained for a long time after being arrested in Baidoa, when he was a candidate running for political office.
“The acting National Security and Intelligence Agency is instructed to submit a full report on the arrest of Mukhtar Robow Ali Abu Mansour,” Said a letter from the office of Somalia’s internal security minister.
Abu Mansour has been detained since 2019, after being captured by Ethiopian forces in Baidoa and transferred to the Somali capital, Mogadishu.
The sensitive call from the Minister of Internal Security comes at a time when Sheikh Mukhtar’s health has been deteriorating in recent times, according to family and relatives.
