Tensions are high in parts of the Somali region after it was overran by Afar forces.

Residents in the area say that they are feeling scared owing to the several skirmishes between Somalis and Afar in the past.

Reports say that Afar militias want to take over land owned by Somali pastoralists but Somali militias have declined.

In the past, areas in the Somali Regional State have been the scene of deadly clashes between Afar and Somali militias.
