Ethiopia’s ambassador to Egypt, Markos Tekle Rike, has said his embassy in Cairo will close in early October.
In an interview with the BBC, the ambassador said the embassy would be closed for three to six months due to financial constraints.
He denied that the reason for the closure was the diplomatic crisis between the two countries over the GERD dam dispute between Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan.
The Ethiopian ambassador also pointed out that the closure of their embassy in Egypt is part of a plan to close up 30 Ethiopian embassies around the world.
