The Israeli air force has yesterday attacked two areas in Gaza after clashes between Gaza residents and Israeli forces along the border.
The attack comes as Egypt and Israel have eased travel and trade sanctions on Gaza, where the two countries have been under siege since Hamas took control in 2007.
“Israeli warplanes have attacked a Hamas military base used for weapons production and training, as well as an underground passage to Jabalia,” The Israeli military said in a statement.
“The attacks were in response to a bomb blast by Hamas on Israeli soil, and violent demonstrations yesterday,” The statement further said.
There have been no reports of casualties in Gaza so far. In yesterday’s protests, Israeli forces fired tear gas and unexploded bombs on Palestinian civilians burning tires, near the Gaza-Israel border.
The Gaza Ministry of Health says 11 Palestinians have been injured in the clashes.
