A contingent of Security personnel has last night conducted a massive security operation in Hodan district in Benadir region.
The operation was carried out in all neighborhoods of Hodan district to flush out members of the Al-Shabaab terror group who are said to be present in the district through intelligence reports.
The forces frisked people walking on the streets, arresting some of them who are suspicious, as well as conducting house-to-house operations.
Hodan District Police Commander Bashir Abdi Siyad said the purpose of the operation was to deter anyone who poses a threat to security following intelligence reports of Al-Shabaab cells presence.
The Hodan District police chief also said that the operation was aimed at tightening security in the capital as the election process draws near.
