Somalia, Kenya agree to strengthen ties

The Somali and Kenyan governments have agreed to strengthen ties between the two countries and reopen embassies in Mogadishu and Nairobi, following lengthy telephone talks between the two countries’ foreign ministers.

Talks between Somali Foreign Minister Mohamed Abdirizak and her Kenyan counterpart Raychelle Omamo discussed in depth how to restore relations between the two countries and fruitful progress in the ongoing talks have been made in both governments.

The two ministers reaffirmed the urgent need to reopen their embassies in Nairobi and Mogadishu and stressed the importance of improving diplomatic relations between the two countries.
