Kenya to lead East African bloc

Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta has been elected as the new chairman of the East African Community (EAC).

Uhuru was elected during the 21st East African Summit.

The East African Community (EAC) members are Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and South Sudan.

Kenyatta will take over from his Rwandan counterpart Paul Kagame, who took over in February 2019.
